iPhoto '09
The new iPhoto '09 which has been released looks like it is going to really bring a big change to the way normal people organise their photo library.
The ability to use face recognition to basically keyword all of your photos is just amazing. A few people spend hours taging all of their photos so that you can find pics of eveyone, but most see this as just too much work and don't do it. But now with a few clicks you can just effectively keyword all of your photo library with who in all all of your photos. And then if you don't know everyone, just upload them to facebook and crowd source your friends to label all the rest, and sync it back into your library.
The other big feature is the places feature which allows you to use the Geotags in your photos to place them where they were taken. Also for people so don't have a camera which will geotag your photos you can then do it manually. But not only can you geocode your photo's but they are location aware. That is if you tag a photo as Melbourne, iPhoto knows that Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.
So now if you combine these with the search you can look for photo's of Bob in Paris. So with the books that Apple offer, you can quickly build up your books with photo's from your trip, pictures of the Granchildren.
I think that Apple inc is on a winner here which will really help people organise their libraries, and actually allow people to make more use of their all their wonderful memories.
